Types of Properties

CISPro Global supports several different types of properties, including text, memo, list, multi-value,  date, numeric, and logical. The characteristics of a property depend in part upon what property type it is.

For example, a logical property can have one of two possible values that represent yes/no (or 1/0, true/false, on/off, etc.), while a list property can have one of a set of values from a user-defined list.

Type

Characteristics

Text

Values can be any string of up to 255 alphanumeric characters

List

A set of values from which only one can be selected (e.g. Yes, No)

Date

Value is a date; CISPro Global provides a calendar tool to make selection easy

Multi-List

A set of values from which user may select as many as apply (e.g., a list of guidelines for storing the material)

Multi-Value

A set of up to 5 values consisting of alphanumeric text strings that are to be filled in for the material  (e.g. Labeling Requirements might include the material name, container barcode, location, safety notes and regulatory codes)

Memo

Similar to the Text property type, to be used when the 255-character Text property limit is inadequate

Logical

A Yes/No (or True/False, 1/0, etc.) option that is represented by a check box. When the check box is selected, the property value is 'Yes' (stored as, and searched as, 1/0)

Numeric

A number value can be assigned to the property, and can be searched using Greater Than, Less Than, and Exact filters

Required Permissions

There are several permissions that control user access to properties. One permission allows users to create, edit, and delete properties. The others allow users to add properties to (and remove them from) materials, containers, etc.
