Global and Site Admin Function

A Workunit is a grouping of users at a single site. The workunit stores settings that are common to all users at a site. A Workunit can have many users, but each user can belong to only one Workunit.

Info: Unless either the Material Qualification Module or Multi-Site module is on, the terms Workunit and Site are nearly interchangeable, as there can be only one site, and it must have exactly one workunit. There are some differences when Multi-Site is on. In Material Qualification Module, the two are very different from each other.

What a Workunit Represents

The system configuration of various business-specific behavior and data at that site
The set of users composing that business at the site

Workunit configuration is a simple process. In fact, the workunit for the default site is already created when CISPro Global is installed. If the Multi-Site module is enabled, a default workunit gets created automatically when a new site is created. The following Workunit settings need to be configured (unless the Material Qualification Module is in use):

Workunit Settings

Material Default Expiration Interval: used to calculate the expiration date on new containers (on equipment materials, this is called Maintenance Interval)
Hazard Display: controls which elements of the Hazard tab display for workers in this Workunit
Workunit Message: text typed into this box displays on the Home Page for workers in this Workunit
Inventory Groups: opens the Configure Workunit Inventory Groups page, where the administrator can specify which Inventory Groups the current Workunit can access (see Inventory Groups)
Auditing and Signatures: opens the Workunit Audit Trail page (see Audit Trail for more information)

Viewing and Changing Workunit Settings

As stated above, the default (and only) Workunit is created automatically, and it requires minimal configuration. When the Workunit settings do need to be changed, however, an administrator can change them as follows:

Accessing Workunit Settings

1.Log in as a Global or Site Admin
2.Click the System Configuration link
3.In the Sites area, click the name of the site to configure
4.Under the Workunits heading, click the name link for the Workunit

Note: Although there is a Create New... link under the Workunits heading, Multiple Workunits per site is a Material Qualification Module feature. In CISPro Global, there will be only one Site* available, and only one Workunit displayed for the site (the default Workunit is named '.(default)' and is displayed below the Create New... link).

Edit an Existing Workunit

1.Follow the steps in Accessing Workunit Settings
2.Change settings as needed
3.Click Save

Workunit Options
