User Accounts

Q:  I get a "bad username/password" message when I try to login?

A:  You are typing either the username or password incorrectly. Note that usernames and passwords are case-sensitive. Check the keyboard Caps Lock setting.

Q:  I get an "account is disabled" message when I try to login?

A:  A system administrator has disabled your account.

Q:  I get an "account is locked" message when I try to login?

A:  Someone has typed the correct username but wrong password several times in a row and the system has locked you out to prevent unauthorized access. You must contact a system administrator to unlock the account.

Q:  Why am I getting the following error in my startup log when I login: "Error loading library 'NTWDBLIB.DLL" ?

A:  You must install a clientside SQL Server connection tool.  This is required for CAFService to operate (i.e. to make a viable database connection).

Q:  I get a "password has expired" message?

A:  For security reasons, passwords do not last forever, they must be periodically changed. This has happened with your account. You need to change your password when the system prompts you to do so.

Q:  I get a "session timed out" message when I am already logged in?

A:  Your Role has a timeout setting (20 minutes is the default). If you are "idle" longer than this timeout period, the system terminates your session to prevent unauthorized use of your login. As long as you are active in the system (meaning clicking links and/or buttons), your session will not timeout. The system will not allow you to remain logged in indefinitely without any activity on your part. If your idle time is too low, contact the system administrator.

Q:  I get a "Too Many Users Logged In" message when I try to login?

A:  The system has reached its concurrent license limit.  You can try again later, or contact the system administrator and ask that they disable a user who is not currently using the system but is holding up a license.  Alternatively, consider moving to CISProLive, a pay-as-you-go subscription-based model that allows you to increase or reduce users depending on your needs.  This frees you from concerns about concurrent license limits.  Please visit www.chemsw.com for more information.

Q:  Why do I have to re-enter my password for Electronic Signatures?

A:  When signing an electronic record, the system must be sure that the signer is authentic. This signer's name is recorded along with the other data.

Q:  My Worklist is blank when I login?

A:  Either there is no data for the Worklist your account has configured, or you have not selected a Worklist. Click the User Configuration link from the Home Page to change your Worklist setting.

Q:  Can I control the number of rows in the lists?

A:  Yes. From the Home Page, click User Configuration, then enter a number of rows into the Grid Rows Preference field.

Q:  How can I see my inventory?

A:  At the Home Page, click Materials, then click the Material link at the top of the screen and Choose My Inventory from the drop down menu.

Materials

Q:  How do I find a material?

A:  At the Home Page, click the Search link, then type the beginning of the material name into the box in front of the Search button, then click the Search button. A search for materials that begin with "karb" would look like this:

clip165

Q:  How do I create a new material?

A:  At the Home Page, click Materials, then click the Material link at the top of the screen and select Create New. You must give the material a name, choose a type (Chemical, Equipment, or Supply) and then for chemicals choose a Physical State (solid, liquid, gas).

Q:  I accidentally deleted a material. Is there any way to get it back?

A:  No, there is no way to retrieve the material, only to recreate one by the same name and attempt to restore all of its characteristics.  Remember that materials are generally interconnected with lots of other data items in the system (containers, properties, standards, orders, requisitions, worklists, etc.), so many other things besides the actual material were probably destroyed. Be absolutely certain that you really want to go through with it when you initiate a material deletion!

Q:  How do I dispense a container?

A:  At the Home Page, click the Find Container Info link. Type or scan the container's barcode ID into the search box and click the Search button. On the Container Information form, (if you have permission) there will be a Dispense link in the lower left corner of the screen.

Q:  How do I move a container?

A:  At the Home Page, click the Find Container Info link. Type or scan the container's barcode ID into the search box and click the Search button. On the Container Information form, click the Current Location button. Choose a new location and click the Move button.

Q:  How do I reprint a container label?

A:  At the Home Page, click the Find Container Info link. Type or scan the container's barcode ID into the search box and click the Search button. On the Container Information form, (if you have permission) there will be a Reprint Label link in the lower left corner of the screen.

Q:  I am getting an "Object Expected" error when attempting to load a JMOL file on the Structure tab.

A:  to use the JMOL applet for viewing chemical structures, you must have the Java Runtime Environment installed in your browser.  This is available at, for example,  http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html.

Q:  The layout file I want to use to create a report is in FRF, not FR3 format. What should I do?

A:  in System Configuration | Reports, select the path to the .frf file for the report that you are trying to run.
