Workflows > Materials > Material Types In CISPro Global, there are several different Material Types, including biologicals, chemicals, constituents, equipment, and supplies. When a new material is created, the user must select one of the defined types. Biologicals and Constituents are available as additional modules. They are covered in separate sections: When viewing a material of any type, you will see an Identity tab and several other tabs containing information specific to the characteristics of that type. (See the Material View topic for a detailed discussion of each of the tabs). Chemicals Chemicals have an Identity tab that includes a Primary CAS# and components, a list of synonyms, and a regulatory list display. There are also Physical (characteristics), Hazards, Documents, Properties and Structure tabs. If the chemical is a solid, it can have units of measure that are weights. If it is a liquid or gas, then it can also have volumes. A specific gravity must be provided to convert between weights and volumes (on the Physical tab). A Containers tab displays the inventory of the chemical. Equipment The Identity tab for Equipment is much simpler than the one for chemicals. It has only Model and Manufacturer fields, in addition to the standard Class drop down list and Synonyms link. Equipment materials also have Picture, Documents, Properties and Containers tabs. Supplies The Identity tab for Supplies features fields for Use/Function and Composition/Description. "Supplies" is a catch-all category for various non-chemical inventory items (packaging, cleaning products, filters, disposable equipment parts, etc.). The tabbed display for this material type also includes Picture, Documents, Properties and Containers tabs.
