Configuration > Secondary Report Server
To reduce resource consumption on the main CISPro Global server, an administrator can configure a secondary server to run printed reports. While a secondary report server is in operation, printed reports are generated from that server, and displayed in a second browser window.
Running printed reports on a secondary report server requires a login session in addition to the one required for the logged in user. The total login count may therefore at times be greater than the number of logged in users.
Configuring a Secondary Report Server
Report server configuration consists of implementing two of the three components of a CISPro Global installation: the CAF server, and the Web server.
1. | Install the CAF and Web components according to the following installation documents (included as part of the CISPro Global installation package): |
• | CISPro Global CAF Server Installation Guide (file name ID_1800?_*_CAF_*.doc) |
• | CISPro Global Web Server Installation Guide (file name ID_1800?_*_Web_*.doc)
|
2. | Make note of the IP address of the web server (as stated in the aforementioned installation documents, the CAF and web components can exist on different servers) |
3. | Log in to CISPro Global on the main web server as a global administrator, and take the following steps: |
1. | Click the System Configuration link on the home page |
2. | Click the Configuration Variables link |
3. | Select the reportpath configuration variable |
4. | Set the reportpath Variable Value to either the IP address or the name of the secondary report server, followed by a forward slash
Example: 192.168.1.114/ or reportserver/
|
4. | Restart the main CISPro Global CAF services and Web server to make the changes effective |
After the report server is configured and services are restarted, when printed reports are run, they will run from the secondary server. To test the report server configuration:
1. | Log in to CISPro Global on the main web server |
2. | Click the System Configuration link on the home page |
3. | Click the Reports link to open the Configure Reports page |
4. | Select a report, and click the Test Report link |
A second browser window will open. One window displays the report content, and the other displays the Configure Reports page. The URL displayed in the report window is a temporary location on the report server.
