Configuration > Reports > Email Report Notifications
Email Report Notifications are used to send report content to users. Reports can be sent at a frequency selected by either the report designer or the recipient, depending on report type.
There are three report types—Flex, Secure, and Targeted—that determine what is actually emailed to users, and several ways of determining who receives the notifications.
Flex
• | Use custom queries to generate content, and specify report components as part of the setup |
• | Can be sent to recipients defined on report, or only to users who subscribe |
• | Generate text-emails, and require no login |
Secure
• | Sends a link that refers to existing reports |
• | Can be sent to recipients defined on report, or only to users who subscribe |
Targeted
• | Use custom queries to generate content, and they specify report components as part of the setup |
• | Recipients are dynamically selected from query results |
• | Generate text-emails, and require no login |
Reports can be sent to a dynamically selected set of recipients (Targeted Reports), or only to users who choose to receive them (Subscription Reports). They can include data in the body of the email notification (no-Login-Required Reports), or require the recipient to log in to see data (Login-Required Reports).
Subscription Reports
• | Sent only to those users who opt to receive them |
• | Available for selection only to users who have required permissions |
• | Can be either Flex or Secure reports |
Non-Subscription Reports
• | Sent only to users who are specified by the report designer |
• | Can be Flex, Secure, or Targeted |
Login-Required Reports
• | Email notification includes a link that the recipient must click to view the report |
• | Recipient needs a valid CISPro Global userid and password to see report |
No-Login-Required Reports
• | Report is entirely contained in the text of the email message |
• | Can be either Flex or Targeted reports |
The three report types (Secure, Flex, and Targeted) share some setup steps, and have some other common characteristics. But there are also some significant differences. The table below provides a quick overview of the three types, and shows their similarities and differences.
