Reference > Wired Scanner Mode
For data entry performed with a keyboard wedge scanner, CISPro Global provides a special mode for continuous use of the scanner without requiring keyboard input. This mode supports container move (change of location), change of owner, transfer (change of owner and location), and disposal. There is also an option called "open," which is used to open a container.
The user must have Containers Modify permission. To allow the user to operate in this mode without touching the keyboard after entering Wired Scanner Mode, the keyboard wedge must be programmed to send an [ENTER] key press after the barcode scan.
1. | On the home page, click the Keyboard/Scanner link |
2. | Scan an operation code barcode (must be: move, owner, transfer, dispose or open) |
3. | Scan a container barcode |
a. | If the operation is 'owner' or 'transfer,' scan a user ID (the barcode must begin with the letter U). For 'transfer,' the container is transferred to the new owner at that user's default location. |
b. | If the operation is 'move,' scan the location ID (the barcode must begin with letters LS). For 'move,' the container is moved to the new location, but is still owned by the original owner. |
c. | If the operation is 'dispose,' the container is disposed and no other information is required |
d. | If the operation is 'open,' the container is marked as open, and the expiration date changes to the earlier of: (today's date + the open expiration interval) or (the current expiration date of the container). See the discussion on opening a container for further information. |
5. | To restart the process, click the Start Over link |
Keyboard Data Entry Operation codes, container barcodes, location barcodes, and user barcodes can be typed into the appropriate field in lieu of scanning. The appropriate barcode prefix (e.g., LS for locations, U for users) must be typed for keyboard entry to succeed.
