Workflows > Waste Manager Module > Waste Containers > Dispensing into Waste Containers Adding material to a waste container is performed as a dispense operation. Waste material can be dispensed into a waste container either with or without a source container. The source container can not be another waste container (waste-to-waste dispenses are not allowed). Dispense Waste from Existing Container A dispense performed from a source container uses the standard dispense process, affects the net quantity of both source and waste container, and creates a record in the source container's dispense transaction history. Dispenses from source containers are performed from the Dispense from Container page. See Dispensing By Container. Add Waste without Source Container A dispense performed from the Waste Container Information page uses the dispensed chemical name, a user-specified quantity, and a dispense code. It does not use a source container, and results in a net quantity change only to the waste container. See Add Material Waste to a Container.
Both types of dispense generate an entries in the waste container’s manifest. When waste is added from a source container whose state of matter is different from that of the recipient waste container, the source material's specific gravity is used to calculate the dispense quantity and its effect on the waste container's fullness.
