Reference > Labels > Keyboard Wedge CISPro Global uses barcode labels to identify containers, retains, samples, locations, and users. The user can use a workstation-based barcode scanner to speed-up the data entry process for finding/entering these identity numbers.
The term "keyboard wedge" refers to a barcode scanning device which is connected between the user's computer and their keyboard. In this way, the scanner replicates the user typing a barcode value in at the keyboard. The user must first focus the screen insertion point (the cursor) at the appropriate entry field. They can then scan the barcode and the value of that barcode will be automatically "typed" into the current field on the screen.
