Reference > Helpful Hints The Helpful Hints box appears on many of the pages most frequently viewed by CISPro Global users. This feature presents information that helps simplify common tasks, and provides a way for global admins to customize instructions for other users at the screen level. Creating a Helpful Hint
Pagename is set by default By default, pagename is automatically set to the name of the page on which [new] link is clicked. Change it only if the link should appear on a different page.
Display order numbering begins at 0 (e.g., 0 for first, 4 for fifth, etc.).
Example Type hazard_graphics, not hazard_graphics.htm, or materialview, not materialview.htm. A topic link is indicated by an underlined question mark (?), which follows the hint. Clicking on the question mark opens the help page that is referenced by the hint.
Editing Existing Hints Click a hint's [edit] link to modify any element of the hint (an [edit] link is displayed after each hint on a page). Close the Configure Helpful Hints window and refresh the page to view the changes. Hyperlinks in Hints Hint Text may be a simple text string, or it may contain a text hyperlink to another CISPro Global page. Create a hyperlink by typing a string in such as sometext <a href="valid.asp">linktext</a> moretext, where sometext and moretext are any text strings valid.asp is the name of the CISPro Global page that the link opens, and linktext is the hyperlink text that is visible to the user. Example On the main Identity page, to remind users to look in the ChemCat catalog for additional materials, and to enable them to go directly to the ChemCat search screen via a link in the hint, enter the new hint information as follows: To see more materials, look in the This hint would be displayed as "To see more materials, look in the ChemCat catalog. [edit]" Keep in mind permissions and other considerations when providing users links in hint text. Users may not have access to all pages in the system. Deleting a Hint
